In one exceptional day, learn about the diverse history of the ancient people’s that inhabited our land centuries ago. Pink Adventure Tours will share with you two archaeological sites that embody the history and culture of the ancient Salado people. We’ll start the day touring to Besh Ba Gowah, the remains of an 800 year old Native American village and trading center. Besh Ba Gowah is home to ethno botanical gardens and a large collection of Salado pottery and artifacts. The highlight of this trip will be your tour experience through Salt River Canyon, a dramatic gorge in the landscape created by nature through millions of years of erosion. You’ll be in awe of the panoramic vistas that await you. Along the way, experience the grandeur of Roosevelt Lake, the oldest and third largest man-made lake in Arizona. Keep your eyes open for migratory waterfowl, bald eagles and osprey as they hunt their prey over the vast 21,000 surface acres of this body of water located in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. We’ll even spend some time at Tonto National Monument in the Four Peak Wilderness area, hiking along the cliff dwellings of the ancient Hohokam people, who existed in the Matazal Mountains around 1,100 years ago. Your trip back will allow you time to ask your highly-trained guide all of the questions flitting through your mind before our final stop at the Desert Botanical Garden (Wednesday) or Fort McDowell (Thursday) for a group dinner.
